Threat intelligence is the collection, analysis and dissemination of information about current and emerging cyber threats, adversary tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs), and indicators of compromise (IoCs). It transforms raw data from multiple sources into actionable insights that enable security teams to anticipate attacks, prioritise defences and respond more effectively to incidents. Threat intelligence can be strategic, tactical or operational depending on the audience and use case.

Integrating threat intelligence into security operations significantly improves an organisation's ability to detect and prevent attacks before they cause damage. It informs decisions on patch prioritisation, firewall rule updates and incident response playbooks. Organisations that consume and share threat intelligence within trusted communities benefit from collective defence and a broader understanding of the evolving threat landscape.
