Summer is in full swing and Tidal continues to innovate to make your compliance work even easier. This quarter we've delivered on our Q1 promises with the launch of Vendor/Third party Management, improved user interfaces, and expanded GitHub integration - all focused on further automating your GRC processes.
Vendor Management is here!
We're proud to announce the launch of our new Vendor Management module! This long-awaited feature enables you to manage all your third parties and their compliance status in one central location. You can add vendors, upload vendor-specific documents, perform a risk assessment, and track their compliance status.
To make it even easier, we've added preset vendors. When adding a vendor, simply search in the name field through our library of preset vendors. These come pre-filled with descriptions and links to relevant security & compliance documents on the vendor's website, helping you determine a security rating for the vendor more quickly and document the rationale behind it.
Renewed Controls overview page
As promised in our Q1 update, we've taken the new Controls overview page out of beta. The side panel in the Controls overview page now displays every field from the previous control detail page. All fields can be edited inline and are saved instantly. Connections with other objects are now made using our new chip component.
This improvement makes managing controls even more efficient, precisely as we had announced. You no longer need to switch between different screens to update your controls.
The Chip Component: Simplifying object links
The renewed controls side panel also introduces a new way of creating connections between objects (controls, tests, assets, etc): The chip component. It looks like a simple text field with all linked objects as badges, also called 'chips'.
To remove a connection, simply click on the cross (×) that appears on each chip. You add new connections by clicking in the field and searching, or by using the dropdown where you can select multiple objects simultaneously via checkboxes.
The major advantage is that you can quickly and clearly manage complex compliance relationships without complicated menus. Everything works intuitively with just a few clicks, and you can efficiently link multiple objects at once when needed.
GitHub Security Monitoring
We've added six new GitHub tests to monitor your code repositories for security risks:
- Force push should not be allowed for the repository's default branch
- Code owner approval should be required for the repository's default branch
- Pull requests should be enabled for the repository
- Repository should not be public
- Write access should be restricted for public repositories
- Recently merged pull requests should be approved
If you manage your code with GitHub, you can add the GitHub integration on the settings page. Once the integration is set up, you can start using these tests.
Completely redesigned Tasks and Issues interfaces
We've completely redesigned the user interfaces for Tasks and Issues. The new pages are more intuitive and easier to use. For example, you can now work on tasks directly from the overview page (in a side panel). Filtering has also been improved. The inbox has been replaced by the "My Tasks" screen. As you're accustomed to, this overview shows only items that are relevant to you.
Additionally, we've updated the user interface of the Task collaboration page. This now first shows all important elements in the so-called 'conversation feed'. Details such as linked controls, assets, due date, period, and assignees can be found on a separate 'details' tab. The new comment field offers more flexibility; you can now paste images directly into the comment field.
Enhanced Tests interface
We've further expanded the Tests overview page with the "Previous results" tab, enabling you to track your test progress over time. The 'Previous Results' tab display the history of each test in a structured, date-grouped list. You can expand each entry to view detailed status information of the Test and download corresponding evidence directly.
The Tests page now shows by default only the Tests that are relevant to your compliance environment ("In scope"). In this view, you can now also see which controls are linked to each test and we've expanded the number of filters. All other Tests are still available via the "Out of scope" button.
Version control automation for Policies
We've added version control to the Policy Centre. When approving a policy, you're now automatically asked to provide a new version number and description. The sidebar shows all version numbers and allows you to make adjustments. The PDF export function automatically adds the version table to the PDF document. Policy Versioning replaces the manual maintenance of version control tables in documents, which was not only a lot of work but also proved error-prone.
Additionally, we've added seven new policy templates, including the AI policy, Asset Management policy, Cloud security policy, and Mobile Device Management (MDM) and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies.
Minor improvements
We've implemented various minor but important improvements:
- Autosave functionality in the workflow builder for Plans
- Ability to create plans with semi-annual frequency
- For closed Issues and Tasks, we now show the closed date instead of the due date
- We've removed the Dashboard page and moved relevant information to the My Overview page
- Improved performance and bug fixes for a smoother user experience
Looking ahead to Q3...
For the next quarterly update, we're even closer to realising our roadmap. We're working hard on expanding TidalBot AI and expect to launch this functionality in Q3. Additionally, we're working on improving onboarding in Tidal, and developing further automation of recurring tasks and tests.
