What’s new | Q4 2024

Q4 was a busier and shorter quarter due to the holidays🎄. Despite that, we worked hard to still add some great updates! This edition introduces TidalAI, additional tests for Azure and AWS, and more… Happy reading!

Tidal AI

The long wait is over: Tidal AI is here! Why now? Well, because we found a really cool use case: Risk assessments! One of the questions we get asked most by founders is: How am I supposed to assess risks if I’ve never done it before? And that’s not easy.

Cue TidalAI: Trained to think as a risk manager, it analyses your risks for you. Something really cool about the Tidal AI is that it learns from the company information that is provided in the Tidal Control portal. Based on that information, it can help with a proposal on how to assess a specific IT risk.

Automations

We have integrated previous feedback and expanded the automated testing with Azure and AWS. Now there are even more compliance controls that you can use automated testing on to get real-time insights in just a few seconds! Some examples of newly added tests for AWS are that you can validate your AWS password policy and MFA settings.

We are still expanding it and would love to receive more feedback on it. Look forward to even more integrations and additional tests this year!

Enhanced Controls sidebar

We are constantly working to make the most important functionality in Tidal even easier to use, and the Controls sidebar is the next installment in this list.

Eventually the sidebar will replace the Control details pages entirely, making it a lot easier to find tasks, tests, and modify controls. For instance: To conduct tests from the sidebar just click on the refresh button and let the magic happen.

Policy center

We implemented a new policy editor which works even better than the previous one, especially when copying tables and other complex objects between Tidal and Microsoft Word or Powerpoint.

For those not using the policy editor, it will be nice to know that you can now also link externally hosted policies (e.g. Sharepoint) to the corresponding policy in Tidal. You’ll still benefit from automated policy review reminders, and approvals in the Tidal portal.

What’s next?

Q1 will bring the New Controls overview page, NIS2 and DORA frameworks, linking Policies to Controls, and new tests for Azure, AWS, Github and Gitlab. We are also working very hard to ship Standard Tasks, as a new and improved way to Plan recurring work… Stay tuned!
